THE LAST BLACK MAN IN SAN FRANCISCO

“The Last Black Man in San Francisco” is a heartfelt drama directed by Joe Talbot that tells the story of a young African-American man’s quest for belonging and identity in a rapidly changing city.

The film follows Jimmie Fails (played by Jimmie Fails), a young man who, alongside his best friend Montgomery Allen (played by Jonathan Majors), dreams of reclaiming the beautiful Victorian house that his grandfather built in the heart of San Francisco. Despite no longer being owned by his family, Jimmie lovingly maintains the house and considers it his true home.
As gentrification sweeps through the city, pushing out long-time residents, Jimmie and Mont embark on a mission to reclaim Jimmie’s family legacy and the sense of belonging it represents. In their journey, they confront the complexities of race, class, and the changing dynamics of a city they love but feel increasingly disconnected.

Along the way, Jimmie encounters his estranged father (played by Rob Morgan) and confronts the challenges of his own identity and self-worth. Through his unwavering determination, Jimmie seeks to find his place in a city that seems to have forgotten him and his community.
“The Last Black Man in San Francisco” is a visually poetic film, capturing the city’s enchanting beauty while examining the fractures that threaten its soul.
